Sompo International creates new A&H unit

Sompo International has launched a new accident & health (A&H) insurance unit. The unit will be led by Dale Willetts, who has joined Sompo International as executive vice president, head of accident & health.

The new team, which comprises six experienced underwriters located in the company’s London office, will write a broad portfolio of global A&H business written primarily through the company’s Lloyd's Syndicate 5151.

Willetts was head of underwriting accident & health at ANV since 2012 and, prior to that, was in a similar role at Travelers. Willetts has over twenty years underwriting experience within the A&H market with progressing responsibility at various companies. He reports to Richard Housley, CUO Sompo International London Market Insurance.

“We are very pleased to welcome the A&H team to Sompo as we continue to expand our London presence into new product offerings and distribution channels,” said Housley. “With strong broker relations built over decades serving this niche market, the team’s client-centric underwriting approach complements Sompo’s reputation for collaboration and responsive service. Dale and his colleagues are a great addition to the London insurance platform that we have built over the last four years.”
