Insurance innovation lab to debut in Bermuda

Cookhouse Pop-Up Lab will be making its debut in Bermuda to uncover challenges that face the local insurance business and combine regional experts with Cookhouse Lab methodologies to help combat them.

Cookhouse Lab is partnering with ConnecTech to give local insurance professionals a preview of the Cookhouse Pop-Up Lab on Friday, September 28, 2018. Mitch Ocampo, co-CEO of Cookhouse Lab, will explain to attendees the innovation lab experience and kick-off the discovery of local challenges in the industry.

Based in Toronto, Cookhouse Lab describes itself a one-of-a-kind open collaboration space that allows thought leaders and industry experts to come together to solve the toughest issues facing the insurance sector. By joining one of its accelerated innovation sprints, participants from different companies share insights through guided exercises in design thinking and lean startup methodologies to develop a business case and a minimum viable product, the scale of which will depend on the project length.

Cookhouse Pop-Up Lab provides a team of innovation experts, research staff, a UX/UI designer and technical experts to support each innovation sprint. Additionally, Cookhouse Lab’s business partners offer legal, technical, and coaching support to achieve optimal success.

“We are so excited to bring together a community of experts in Bermuda to shape the future of insurance,” said Mitch Ocampo, Co-CEO of Cookhouse Lab. “Cookhouse Pop-Up Lab will allow us to facilitate big ideas and meaningful InsurTech projects that will truly add value to insurance and people’s lives. We’ve seen firsthand how combining the right mix of creative spirit and expertise can truly make a difference and are thrilled to bring this energy to Bermuda.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Cookhouse Lab to bring this exciting initiative to our shores,” said Coral Wells, founder of ConnecTech. “ConnecTech’s principles are rooted in technology, collaboration and innovation. This is an excellent opportunity for Bermuda’s leading industry to come together and initiate change and explore solutions in fintech and insurtech.”
