IGI strengthens its London marine underwriting team

International General Insurance Holdings (IGI), the international specialist commercial re/insurer has named Vickie Fox as underwriter for ports and terminals, strengthening the London marine team.

IGI said the marine book of business has been growing profitably and Fox has been charged with encouraging that growth. She will also help develop a new bespoke marine trade product for IGI that will tie in public liability, employee’s liability and property damage to IGI’s existing offering.

Fox reports into Mark Trevitt, class underwriter for ports and terminals and marine liabilities, and is based in London. She joins from MS Amlin where she helped create and develop the insurer’s marine trade offering, before which she was a broker with AJ Gallagher, helping to maintain and develop marine exposures. In all she has 17 years’ experience in the insurance industry.

Trevitt said: “Vickie’s hire is another part of IGI’s continued evolution as an international insurer and a direct result of our disciplined attitude towards rating, reviewing and writing risk with a focus on bottom line growth. IGI’s marine offering and ports and terminals product has grown profitably over the last couple of years and we needed an experienced practitioner to evolve our marine proposition further.”

Fox said she had wanted to join a nimble insurer with a dynamic approach to writing risk. “IGI’s approach to underwriting has always impressed me – the company carefully selects its risks, classes and products, and continuously monitors its strategy to adapt to changing market conditions.”
