Everest Re Group announces new head for sidecar

Everest has appointed John Modin as president of its fully-collateralised sidecar Mt. Logan Re. He joins from Citigroup, where he was a managing director in the financial services group and head of insurance solutions. He has 30-years’ experience in financial services, insurance and insurance-linked securities. His career includes a stint as chief financial officer of reinsurer PXRE.

Modin will succeed current president David Whiting, who is retiring after nearly 45 years in the Bermuda reinsurance market, in a career that saw him in senior roles at Torus Insurance, Wind River, Quanta Reinsurance and Swiss Re. Whiting will remain with Mt. Logan until the end of 2021 to assist with the transition.

Juan C. Andrade, Everest president and CEO, said: “We welcome John Modin to Everest and Mt. Logan Re. Everest has built an excellent ILS capital management business with Mt. Logan Re. John’s leadership will be critical as we continue to expand our risk financing and partner with investors to offer high quality and diversifying returns.”
