Canopius appoints head of medical professional liability

Specialty re/insurer Canopius has appointed a veteran health underwriter to be head of medical professional liability. 

Valentina Minetti, who was previously active underwriter for Syndicate 1975 at Coverys, took up the post at Bermuda-registered Canopius this month. She is resident in the UK.  

Prior to working at Coverys since July 2020, she was US hospitals focus group leader for Beazley, where she worked from 2008 until 2020. 

She also worked at Groupama Insurances and GE Financial Insurance and is an experienced pricing and reserving actuary.  

The company said that the appointment accelerates the growth of Canopius’ new medical professional liability division, following the appointments of Ashley Moulton as healthcare underwriter and Alex Tindall as underwriting analyst to the team last year.
