Armour Group unveils new appointments

Armour Group has announced two senior appointments, as a part of what it described as its continued growth strategy and execution of its global build-out for new business sourcing and new product development.

Ranbeer Bhatia and Andrea Piatti will report to Steve Ryland, group senior vice president and Armour’s Global Head, New Business Development. Bhatia will head Armour’s business development in North America and Piatti will serve as Head of European M&A and be responsible for Armour’s business development in Europe.

In addition to business development in North America, Bhatia will also have responsibility for the group’s global capital markets function and will report to Armour’s founders for this aspect of his responsibilities.

Bhatia has over 15 years of capital markets experience in the financial services industry focused on sourcing, structuring and executing M&A and capital raising transactions in the insurance industry. He was previously the lead financial advisor to Armour Group on their $500 million permanent capital transaction in partnership with Aquiline Capital Partners.

Piatti is a senior professional with almost 20 years’ experience in the reinsurance and convergence sectors. Before joining Armour, Piatti was head of structured solutions (EMEA) and global product leader at MS Amlin in Zurich, where he developed and led MS Amlin’s global structured reinsurance efforts.

Steve Ryland, senior vice president and head of global business development, said: “Both new hires have a long and proven history of business origination and development demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the wider financial sector and the global insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We are extremely pleased and indeed very fortunate to attract senior executives with such qualities, experience and product expertise.”
