Everest taps Chubb for US retail casualty insurance head
Everest Insurance has hired a former Chubb executive to drive its US retail casualty business in North America, replacing David Sandler who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.
Bill Hazelton (pictured) has been appointed as head of US retail casualty in North America for the insurance arm of Bermuda-based Everest Group. Based in Everest’s Warren, New Jersey headquarters, Hazelton will report directly to Mike Mulray, president, Everest Insurance North America.
Hazelton will oversee the direction and strategy of Everest’s US retail casualty business, including the division’s industry practices segment. He has more than three decades of industry experience, most recently as head of North America industry practices at Chubb, where he spent the last 20 years in a variety of leadership roles across underwriting, claims and distribution.
Mulray said: “Bill’s depth of experience across underwriting, claims, distribution and portfolio management adds tremendous value across our casualty portfolio and organisation, and I am thrilled to welcome him to my executive leadership team.
“His leadership style and collaborative approach aligns perfectly to Everest’s high-performing culture and ongoing focus on meeting customer needs with specialised offerings and exceptional service. I also want to thank Dave for his contributions to our team and wish him all the best in the future.”
