Everest Insurance looks within for US retail leader

Everest Insurance has promoted a retail property insurance veteran to head its US retail property segment.

Everest, a division of Bermuda-based Everest Group said Patrick Hagerty will be senior vice president and head of US retail property. Hagerty is based in New York and reports to Mike Mulray, president, Everest Insurance North America.

“Everest continues to invest in best-in-class underwriting talent and service to meet the evolving needs of the US property market,” said Mulray. “Patrick has been instrumental in leading our team and growing our capabilities in this priority business and we are fortunate to have him at the helm.

“With his deep technical property experience and strong leadership skills, I am confident that Patrick will continue to elevate our offering and drive the portfolio’s strong performance for the long-term.”

Hagerty will be responsible for all aspects of Everest’s retail, middle market and builder’s risk businesses. He joined the company’s corporate underwriting team in 2021 and was most recently Everest Insurance’s chief underwriting officer for US property. 

Previously, Hagerty spent nearly two decades with AIG, where he served as deputy CUO for retail property and was a member of the retail property leadership team.
