Canopius appoints Stacey Alioto as group COO
Canopius has appointed Stacey Alioto (pictured) as group chief operating officer, with the former HSBC deputy group COO set to join the specialty re/insurer in September 2026 and succeed the retiring Kate Roy as the business continues to strengthen its operational capabilities and support international growth.
Based in Chicago, Alioto joins from HSBC, where she most recently served as deputy group chief operating officer. During more than 25 years at the bank, she led operations across more than 60 markets, overseeing teams of up to 10,000 employees and managing significant cost bases while delivering large-scale operational transformation.
Canopius said Alioto’s experience will support the group’s continued international expansion and focus on operational excellence. She will help build on the company’s operational foundations and support its Centre of Operational Excellence to automate processes, improve efficiency and enhance productivity and decision-making.
