Sompo hires CAN/Hardy marine insurance veteran

Bermuda-based Sompo International has tapped marine line talent from CNA/Hardy to lead its marine and energy liability business in the London Market. 

Stephen Barr will be head of marine & energy liability insurance after a stint with CNA/Hardy, where he was European head of marine insurance. He previously worked as both an underwriter and a broker with Talbot, Hiscox and Sedgwick. In 2022 he was appointed as vice chair of the International Union of Marine Insurance’s executive committee.
