SiriusPoint hires ex ACR CEO

Specialty re/insurer SiriusPoint has appointed Bobby Heerasing as its head of international strategic business development. In the newly-created role, Heerasing is responsible for developing the business’s international growth objectives and managing strategic partnerships with industry partners and clients.

Based in Singapore and a member of the senior management team, he will report to SiriusPoint president Monica Cramér Manhem.

Heerasing has over 25 years’ experience in the industry. He joins from Asia Capital Re (ACR) Holdings, where he was group CEO and was a member of the board until its sale to Catalina in March 2020. While there, he oversaw a significant improvement in its financial performance whilst “successfully turning the carrier into a credible and respected global P&C reinsurer”, said SiriusPoint.

Before ACR, he spent 19 years working in the property treaty and casualty treaty reinsurance market at XL Catlin Ltd as underwriting and distribution director for insurance. Before that, he was its chief underwriting officer for Asia Pacific. He began his insurance career at Royal Sun & Alliance as a senior underwriting assistant for marine business.

“We are delighted to welcome Bobby to SiriusPoint and to attract a candidate of his calibre,” said Cramér Manhem.

“As a driven and creative executive, he brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the international re/insurance world, particularly in Asia. He has a first-class reputation in building successful and profitable underwriting platforms. This appointment further strengthens our focus on value creation and continued commitment to cultivating relationships with our partners.”
