The former CEO and co-founder of Bermuda reinsurer Third Point Re, Robert Bredahl, has been appointed as president and chief operating officer at TigerRisk Partners, only the week after he had resigned.
Bredahl will take up his new role in the middle of June, and will also be a member of TigerRisk’s board of directors.
“TigerRisk has achieved its remarkable growth by challenging the status quo,” said TigerRisk CEO Rod Fox, who made the announcement. “We are excited to have Rob join our team. He is a sophisticated operator and is at the forefront of the intersection of risk and capital.”
Bredahl co-founded Third Point Re in 2012 and has held a number of senior roles including chief underwriting officer, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. He resigned as CEO and president on May 9.
Prior to Third Point Re, Bredahl was CEO of Aon Benfield Securities, as well as president of the Americas division of Aon Benfield.
Commenting on his appointment, Bredahl said: “No broker/advisor is better positioned to navigate the ever-evolving market and develop new ways to match risk and capital,
He continued: “As the reinsurance broker market continues to consolidate, insurers, reinsurers and investors want financially sophisticated alternatives to the few mega brokers. I look forward to deploying TigerRisk’s excellent reinsurance, investment banking and advisory experts for the benefit of clients. TigerRisk has built a great firm with a great culture – I am excited to be a part of it.”
