Private equity house Flexpoint Ford takes stake in TigerRisk

Private equity company Flexpoint Ford has taken a stake in TigerRisk Partners, the risk, capital and strategic advisor to the global re/insurance industry.

TigerRisk’s management team, including CEO and co-founder Rod Fox, and president Rob Bredahl, will remain in their current roles, and TigerRisk’s current employees will retain a significant stake in the company.

Flexpoint specialises in the financial services and healthcare industries and the transaction is intended to enhance TigerRisk’s expertise in these fields, and its ability to assist clients.

Fox said: “Our partnership with Flexpoint Ford will provide us with the added resources to help our clients navigate this difficult period, capitalise on a dynamic competitive landscape and continue our strong growth trajectory.”

Bredahl said the deal demonstrates the value of the TigerRisk platform, hailing it as “a testament to our employees’ hard work, dedication and commitment to building a business focused on providing excellent advice and service to our customers.” TigerRisk will now be better positioned to attract top talent and expand into new products and geographies, he added.

Dominic Hood, principal at Flexpoint Ford, cited TigerRisk’s reputation for providing innovative solutions across the capital spectrum and said the company will sit “at the epicenter of our insurance portfolio as we partner with TigerRisk on their next phase of growth.”

TigerRisk was founded in 2008 and is a privately held company that seeks to provide a differentiated and holistic approach to reinsurance, capital markets and technology and analytics.  It is headquartered in Stamford, with a number of other offices, including in Bermuda and the UK.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.  Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Willkie Farr & Gallagher acted as legal advisor to TigerRisk Partners in the transaction, with Kirkland & Ellis representing Flexpoint Ford.
