MS Amlin names Robert Wiest as new CEO
MS Amlin has appointed Swiss Re chief operating officer Robert Wiest as its new CEO. Wiest will take up the role in January 2022 and be based in Zurich, the reinsurer said. The Switzerland-domiciled reinsurer operates in Lloyd’s, the UK, Continental Europe and Bermuda.
Robert Wiest brings over 30 years of industry experience. At Swiss Re over two decades, he led business units as the head of global business solutions, head of strategy and operations for Asia, and head of Western and Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Turkey.
At MS Amlin, he will take over from chairman of the board Martin Albers, who has been serving as interim CEO since Chris Beazley stepped down from the role at the end of August.
Tamaki Kawate, director and senior executive officer at MA Amlin AG owner Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, said: “We are delighted that Robert has stepped forward to take up the mantle at MS AAG.
“Robert is one of the sector’s highly regarded leaders with a track record that speaks for itself. He brings an innovative, responsive approach to leading ambitious growth projects in high-profile reinsurance organisations. His unrivalled expertise and leadership credentials will be integral to taking MS AAG forward as it continues on its journey to develop a diverse, efficient, profitable and client-focused business.”
