Bank of Butterfield adds financial analyst to board

The Bank of Butterfield has named Mark Lynch to its board as an independent director.

The addition of the former partner from Wellington Management takes the total number of the Butterfield board to ten.

Lynch is an investment manager and analyst who specialises in financial services. In June he withdrew as a partner from Wellington, where he had served as senior financial services analyst since 1994 and a partner since 1996. He also served as a portfolio manager of mutual funds, hedge funds, and institutional portfolios.

Michael Collins, Butterfield’s chairman and chief executive officer, said his background as a bank analyst and portfolio manager complements the expertise of the existing members of the board.

“Under Mark’s leadership, Wellington Management was part of the investor group that participated in the bank’s recapitalisation in 2010,” noted Collins. “Mark has a deep understanding of our business and markets, and recognises the value and growth potential of our franchise. Our board deliberations will benefit from his insight and industry perspective.”
