ABIR arranges virtual discussion with IAIS about industry trends

The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) has invited the entire Bermuda re/insurance market and the Bermuda Monetary Authority to participate in a virtual event it is hosting with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS).

Albert Benchimol, president and chief executive officer of AXIS Capital and chairman of ABIR, will discuss a range of issues with IAIS secretary general Jonathan Dixon. The event is scheduled for October 20 at 2pm Atlantic time.

ABIR promised the executives will discuss the critical insurance regulatory and supervisory issues of the day, including: climate risk, ICS/ComFrame implementation, financial stability, pandemic impact, IAIS' operational resilience taskforce, the IAIS application paper on adapting to emerging risks and the IAIS issues paper on insurance culture.

The event will last for one hour and be moderated by Benchimol.

John Huff, chief executive of ABIR, said: “Advancing Bermuda’s many international relationships to demonstrate Bermuda’s leading value proposition of contributing to global risk diversification is a major goal of ABIR.”
