MembersCap names strategic advisor
Start-up investment fund Members Capital Management has named Lord Chris Holmes to its strategic advisory board.
Lord Holmes is a former advisor to the UK government on diversity and an advocate for digital finance.
MembersCap is a new Bermuda-based investment manager which will launching its flagship fund in the first quarter of 2025 “with a mission to democratise reinsurance by matching the right capital with the right risks”.
“The fund – a first of its kind offering – will be denominated in both fiat (USD) and digital (USDC) currencies, focused on the global private reinsurance market,” the company said.
According to its website, the company plans to unlock new sources of finance by bridging digital and tokenised assets into reinsurance. It said it plans to target well-understood, well-priced and well-structured areas of the insurance-linked securities markets.
Among its service providers are fund management service provider Apex, digital asset business Coinbase and Bermuda-based digital reinsurer Nayms.
MembersCap said Lord Holmes’ commitment to innovation and inclusivity aligns closely with the fund’s strategic initiatives of unlocking new sources of capital, and democratising access to the global.
