Axa XL elevates Julian Longbottom and Jamie Pedro to strengthen specialty lines

Axa XL Reinsurance has promoted from within, appointing Julian Longbottom (pictured right) as global head of marine and energy and elevating Jamie Pedro (pictured left) to reinsurance head of specialty in Bermuda, as the group looks to reinforce leadership across its specialty reinsurance portfolio.

Longbottom will lead Axa XL Reinsurance’s marine and energy business and will develop and implement a global reinsurance strategy. Longbottom has over 10 years at Axa XL, and brings sector expertise in growth, client solutions, and strategic development, including expanding the Japanese portfolio.

Pedro becomes the global product lead for whole account reinsurance risks and will collaborate with Longbottom to manage the Bermuda marine and energy reinsurance risks as well as continuing to work closely with core clients across the reinsurance property portfolio.

Pedro has 15 years’ experience working in the Bermuda property reinsurance division at Axa XL, most recently as senior underwriter. Prior to joining, Pedro held the position of underwriter at Catlin and assistant VP at Tokio Millennium Re.
