Aspen shake-up sees new group CUO
Bermuda-based re/insurer Aspen has seen a flurry of new appointments.
Christian Dunleavy, the existing chief underwriting officer of Aspen Re, has been promoted to the newly created position of group CUO. He will lead efforts to deliver against Aspen’s strategy, according to Aspen Insurance Holdings executive chairman and group chief executive officer Mark Cloutier.
He’ll be supported by Andrew Rippert, who joined Aspen in June as head of mortgage and is now CUO for the reinsurance segment.
“His experience at Arch Capital saw him establish and lead a multi-billion dollar mortgage credit business that was preeminent in the market,” said Cloutier. “I am looking forward to working with Andrew in his new role, and he also will now join me on the Group ExCo.”
Head of Asia Pacific and global product head of casualty reinsurance Beatrice Morley, meanwhile, is appointed head of international reinsurance. Finally, Mark Pickering takes on the role of CEO of Aspen Bermuda but retains his current responsibilities as group chief capital management officer and treasurer.
“Aspen remains well positioned to take advantage of the market conditions as we continue to refine and retool our support functions to match our underwriting and capital markets capabilities,” said Cloutier.
