Willis Re has strengthened its Bermuda bench with the appointment of Richard Hornett, a former senior vice president at Guy Carpenter, who brings four decades of experience in complex reinsurance and retrocession.
Hornett brings more than four decades of industry experience, including more than 25 years in the Bermuda market. He joins from Guy Carpenter, where he spent 20 years contributing to the placement of complex reinsurance and retrocession programmes as SVP.
Throughout hi time on the island, Hornett played a pivotal role in establishing several new re/insurance operations, notably leading the initial Bermuda build‑out for Prentis Donegan & Partners (later acquired by Price Forbes). His work has consistently helped open new business channels across multiple lines into the Bermuda marketplace.
Hornett’s expertise spans catastrophe analytics for traditional, catastrophe bond and industry-loss-warranty transactions, and the development of innovative products that broadened the solutions available to clients. He is widely recognised for his technical depth, client focus, and ability to build strong, enduring relationships.
Lucy Clarke, Willis Re board member, said: “We’re delighted to have Rikki on board as we continue to strengthen our capabilities and deliver market‑leading solutions for our clients across the Bermuda market.”
