PartnerRe reshuffles management for specialty lines and global cat

PartnerRe has appointed Philippe Meyenhofer to the role of chief executive officer of its specialty lines business, while Greg Haft assumes the role of CEO for global cat.

Meyenhofer is currently chief executive of the P&C business for EMEA and a member of the executive leadership team. He joined PartnerRe in August 2010 and has held several leadership positions, having most recently served as head of P&C Europe from July 2016 to April 2019.

The global cat unit brings together the centrally managed property cat portfolio and the group cat technical functions of research, modeling and portfolio management. Haft is currently CEO of specialty lines and is also a member of the executive leadership team. He led PartnerRe’s cat unit for five years as head of global cat and Property, North America, after joining the Company in 2013.

Both appointments take up their new posts on June 1.

Emmanuel Clarke, CEO at PartnerRe, described both specialty lines and global cat as “critical to our performance and success as a global diversified reinsurer.” He stressed the need for specialty to deliver sustainable profitability, and for more centralised steering of portfolio management in the cat business.

Christian Mitterer, who has been leading the specialty casualty unit within P&C EMEA since 2016, becomes head of P&C EMEA, reporting to Clarke.

Nick Hughes, head of global cat, reports to Haft, and will be responsible for an expanded cat portfolio, including US cat and some large monoline relationships. Joe Hooks, head of the North America cat team, reports to Hughes.

The composition of PartnerRe’s executive leadership team remains the same.

Clarke said the changes will ensure the company is well positioned as it responds to a fast-improving market.
