WR Berkley CFO moves to Hamilton

The former chief financial officer (CFO) at WR Berkley Underwriting, Robert Vetch, has joined Hamilton Underwriting, the managing agency of Syndicate 3334 and the Lloyd's operations of Hamilton Insurance Group, as CFO.

He succeeds Simon Barrett, who left Hamilton in December 2018 to pursue another opportunity, and will report to CEO Dermot O'Donohoe.

Vetch held the position of CFO at WRB Underwriting for nine years, and prior that served as finance business partner at Brit Global Markets.

He has also worked at QBE Insurance Group for seven years and PwC for four years, where he specialised in insurance and investment management.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Rob to the Hamilton team,” said  O’Donohoe. “We pride ourselves on attracting some of the best talent in the business, and Rob falls squarely into that category. As we continue to explore opportunities for profitable and sustainable growth, Rob’s experience and financial acumen will stand us in good stead.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Simon Barrett, who was with us virtually from the beginning of our establishment and who played an integral role in laying the groundwork for our development as a diversified specialty syndicate. We wish Simon every success in his future endeavours.”
