Tysers invests in Helix Underwriting Partners

Tysers has taken a minority stake in Helix Underwriting Partners, Bermuda’s newly formed and first independent managing general underwriter.

Richard Tomkins, managing director of Tysers Bermuda, said the company had identified the potential benefits of a partnership between the two firms in the second half of 2019, while Helix was setting up on the island.

“The founders of Helix have many years of experience within the industry, across multiple disciplines and have all the necessary skills to make the business a success,” added Tomkins.

Claude Lefebvre, president of Helix Underwriting Partners, said it had reviewed a number of capital propositions from different several interested parties during its formation. “Tysers emerged as an optimal strategic partner for Helix; its goal to be a leading independent brokerage and service firm aligns well with the profile of our business,” he said.
