Sompo International unveils new chief underwriting officer
Sompo International Holdings (SIH) has revealed that John (Jack) Kuhn has added the position of chief underwriting officer for Sompo International’s Property & Casualty (P&C) business to his existing position of chief executive officer, global insurance at the firm.
The company said that Kuhn will provide leadership across the company’s insurance and reinsurance underwriting operations as Sompo International continues to build the overseas platform of its parent company, Sompo Holdings. Stephen Young, chief executive officer, global reinsurance, will report to Kuhn and will continue as a member of Sompo International’s P&C executive team.

Kuhn joined Endurance Specialty Holdings, the predecessor company to Sompo International Holdings, in November 2012 from AXIS Capital, where he was chief underwriting officer, Axis Insurance. Throughout his 30 year tenure in the insurance industry, Kuhn has built and led successful specialty insurance operations in the US and internationally in senior underwriting and management roles at Kemper Insurance and the Chubb Group.
