RenaissanceRe holds career day for Bermuda schoolgirls

RenaissanceRe Holdings has hosted 42 female students from eight senior schools at a Career Day and mentoring event. The event was coordinated by the Company's Women's Forum, an employee resource group that provides activities and resources that empower women.

"Our goal is for the girls to leave with a good understanding of our industry and the various career opportunities that are available in reinsurance," said Ross Curtis, chief underwriting officer at RenaissanceRe. "We are proud to offer this unique opportunity for future leaders to hear from the women who contribute directly and significantly to our company's success."

The participating schools included Berkeley Institute, Bermuda High School, Bermuda Institute, Cedarbridge Academy, Mount St. Agnes, Saltus Grammar School, Somersfield Academy and Warwick Academy.

During the Career Day event, women at RenaissanceRe shared their insights into the reinsurance industry, outlined various job roles at the company, offered tips for interviewing, and highlighted skills students will need to develop to be successful in the corporate world.

Students and school career counsellors were also able to network with women at RenaissanceRe who offered insight into their daily work activities in areas such as administration and office management, claims and operations, finance, human resources, information technology, legal, marketing, risk and underwriting.

Emma Lopez, VP underwriting operations at RenaissanceRe and member of the Company's Women's Forum, said, "The event provides a valuable opportunity for the girls to learn about a variety of career paths and consider the skills and experiences they may want to pursue during their educational journey."
