PartnerRe recruits new US corporate development executive

PartnerRe has announced that Chris Shanahan will join the company in May as executive vice president, corporate development, US Life.

Shanahan will work within the life business unit and will report to Alan Ryder, chief executive officer North America Life. According to the company Shanahan will lead efforts to develop and advance strategy for PartnerRe’s US life reinsurance business by leveraging the Company’s global expertise to deliver life reinsurance solutions tailored to the needs of the US market.

PartnerRe said that this appointment underlines its focus on the US life reinsurance market and desire to continue to support its clients’ growth in that market.

Shanahan has extensive experience in life reinsurance and has spent the majority of his 25-year career in the industry. Most recently he was executive vice president, mortality solutions and corporate marketing at Hannover Re Life in the US where he had overall responsibility for managing the traditional life reinsurance business, including business development, operations and marketing.
