PartnerRe aviation head retires after 25 years

PartnerRe has promoted William Strasser to be head of aviation following the retirement of veteran Benjamin Weber, who steps down after a quarter of a century’s service to the company.

Weber is retiring early this year having been head of aviation and space since 1999.

“The PartnerRe team would like to thank Beni for his immense contribution to the Company and wish him well in his retirement,” the company said in a LinkedIn post.

Philippe Meyenhofer, CEO specialty lines, said: “I am delighted to announce that William Strasser has been appointed head of aviation.

“William has held multiple senior positions since joining Partner Re in 2003 and has consistently demonstrated strong initiative and an effective solution-oriented approach, which will serve PartnerRe and our customers well.”

Strasser has been head of specialty property, engineering and downstream energy treaty since November 2021 and was previously EMEA P&C deputy CUO for property, specialty lines and head of multiline.

Both Weber and Strasser are based in Zurich.
