Novae hires former Montpelier Re exec

Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group has appointed a former Montpelier Re executive as head of US direct and facultative (D&F).

Based in Bermuda, Nik Lucking will report to Stuart Heath, head of property.

He most recently served as senior vice president and head of North American D&F property portfolio at Montpelier in Bermuda. There, he was responsible for the strategic planning and development of business across all three of the Montpelier D&F platforms.

Prior to this, he spent seven years with Willis in both London and Bermuda, latterly as head of the property team.

Heath said: “We are committed to building out our presence in Bermuda and see a number of growth opportunities in the US D&F market that will complement our strategy. Nik’s expertise and entrepreneurial attitude marked him out as the natural choice to lead this new division and develop our proposition.”
