New head of US property at Arch
Arch Insurance announced that Valerie Turpin has joined the company as executive vice president (EVP) and head of US property. She succeeds Michael Kmetz, who has taken a different role within the firm.
In this position, Turpin will have oversight of both the excess and surplus property and US retail property divisions. She reports to Michael Price, EVP and chief underwriting officer of Arch Insurance Group.
“Valerie is a recognised leader in the industry and has a proven track record of building out a property team and leading it into new segments,” Price said. “We’re impressed with her strategic thinking and leadership style and know she will bring a new perspective to both her team and the leadership group at Arch Insurance.”
Mark Lange, EVP, strategy and distribution, added, “Valerie’s experience and expertise will help ensure we’re providing valuable solutions for our partners and embracing new growth strategies in all of our distribution channels.”
Turpin joins Arch Insurance from American International Group (AIG), where she most recently served as senior vice president, Midwest property and special risks and managed a substantial book of retail and wholesale business. Before joining AIG, she held a number of senior roles as a risk engineer and underwriter in both the US and European markets.
