New CUO appointed at Pillar Capital

Bermuda-based insurance asset manager Pillar Capital Holdings, which is focused on collateralised reinsurance and catastrophe insurance-linked securities, has appointed Jeff Franklin as chief underwriting officer (CUO), effective immediately.

Franklin joined Pillar as senior vice president and portfolio manager in 2013. He has extensive experience in global property underwriting, including a CUO role prior to joining Pillar where he developed a company’s international book of business and oversaw its international property catastrophe portfolio.

According to a statement from the Pillar board of directors: “Jeff has played an integral leadership role in expanding Pillar’s market presence and leading the development of our portfolio strategy over the last five years. His appointment as chief underwriting officer is a natural progression that enables the Company to benefit from his proven underwriting expertise in the Bermuda reinsurance market and his extensive market contacts.”

“I am thrilled to assume the CUO position at Pillar,” said Franklin.  “It has been an honour to contribute to Pillar’s success in the reinsurance market and I’m looking forward to continuing to expand our share of the ILS collateralised reinsurance market.”
