MS Amlin hires two senior execs in Europe

MS Amlin Insurance SE (MS AISE), the European primary insurer of MS Amlin, has made two hires as it gears up to roll out new digital products across the business.

Norbert Herkströter joins MS AISE as chief operations officer (COO) while Jan Vande Weghe joins as property and casualty (P&C) country manager for Belgium, subject to regulatory approval.

Herkströter was most recently chief information officer at Delft University of Technology. He has also held a variety of senior roles at Aegon, NIBC and ABN AMRO. As chief technology officer at Aegon Global Technology he was responsible for building and running global IT operations, as well as devising and implementing global data strategies. At MS AISE he will be a member of the management committee.

Vande Weghe has more than 20 years’ experience in the P&C market, and joins from Baloise, where he was director of non-life commercial and marine. He has also worked at ING Insurance and P&V/Vivium, and has a strong network in the Belgian market and a track record in developing go-to-market strategies.

Both will take up their role on September 1, 2021, and will report to MS AISE’s chief executive officer, Ludovic Senecaut.

Senecaut said the appointments will strengthen MS AISE’s senior management team. “As our new COO, Norbert’s leadership experience, management and technical skill will be integral to executing our business strategy and rolling out new digital projects across MS AISE,” he said.

“In his role as P&C country manager of Belgium, Jan’s industry expertise and strong relationships in the country will be critical in developing our market position in Belgium.”
