Mosaic bolsters cyber division with hire from Axis
Specialty insurer Mosaic is ramping its cyber insurance capacity and has hired a veteran underwriter from Axis Capital to leads its US cyber business.
Mosaic said it had appointed David Drogin (pictured) to lead growth of its US cyber business. He will join the specialty insurer’s New York office as SVP, Head of US, Cyber, reporting to Global Head of Cyber Yosha DeLong.
“He will be responsible for leading operational and growth strategy for Mosaic’s US cyber portfolio and represents the firm’s latest hire,” the company said. “ Mosaic’s cyber team currently counts a total of 23 underwriters in New York, Chicago, London, Toronto, Germany, Dubai, and Bermuda.”
DeLong said: “We’re thrilled to welcome David to Mosaic as we ramp up our US cyber platform and position to become a dynamic leader in this challenging space.
“Our continued expansion is aligned with Mosaic’s dedication to the cyber insurance class, and our commitment to providing risk-transfer solutions to policyholders, backed by a best-in-class team.”
Mosaic launched its primary cyber product in May, offering $25 million in capacity across its network of underwriting hubs. The new coverage, building on two years of successful excess cyber, deploys syndicated capital for both Mosaic’s Syndicate 1609 and trade partners under the company’s hybrid agency model—spreading risk, while retaining full claims-settlement control. Notably, Mosaic’s cyber product also benefits from a pioneering partnership with tech leader Safe Security to provide inside-out evaluation to organisations and embed real-time cyber-risk data into the underwriting process.
Drogin is a senior cyber insurance professional and lawyer with more than 18 years of experience across claims, product development, and underwriting spheres. Previously, he was US Northeast regional manager at Axis Capital, overseeing a portfolio of cyber, technology E&O, professional liability and media, with a focus on both retail and wholesale markets. He held prior roles at ACE USA and served as an insurance coverage lawyer at Wilson Elser.
“At a time when even the most thoroughly prepared companies are unable to eradicate the risk of cyberattacks, the significance of cyber insurance should not be understated,” said Drogin. “I am delighted to join Mosaic’s talented team, and I look forward to helping empower our clients to fortify their cyber resilience in this rapidly developing sector.”
Six other recent additions to Mosaic’s cybersecurity division include: Toni Gehring, AVP, Underwriter, in Germany; Kyle Gray VP, Underwriter, in Toronto; Tayler Salvatore, AVP, and Kimiya Malek, Associate Production Specialist, in New York; and junior underwriters Ted Duberley and Florence Colangelo in London.
Mosaic said cyber is the fastest growing of its seven specialties, with the division capitalising on strong collaboration with public agencies to bolster digital security and help shape industry best practices.
