Markel strengthens Bermuda claims expertise

Markel has boosted its North America/Bermuda claims division with the promotion of two senior claims executives.

Nick Conca has been named chief claims officer for North America/Bermuda claims. He previously served as chief claims officer for Alterra, which was acquired by Markel in May 2013. He is based in Markel’s New York City office.

Alex Sardinia has been appointed executive claims officer and will assist Conca in leading the claims organisation.

Sardinia has been with Markel for the past 10 years and has 30 years of insurance industry claims experience. He is based in Richmond, Virginia.

Britt Glisson, chief administrative officer, said: “This is part of the natural evolution of our claims department since the acquisition of Alterra, and we believe this to be an opportune time to make these appointments.
