Ironshore hires Lloyd’s underwriter to lead its property fac business

Ironshore, the Bermuda-based insurer, has appointed Melanie Alexander as head of global property programmes, overseeing the London-based property facility business.

Alexander has been underwriting on behalf of various syndicates at Lloyd’s for global property classes for over sixteen years.  Most recently, she was director for Shepherd Compello, where she launched a venture for the Lloyd’s broker and coverholder to diversify business lines to expand into new markets.

She was also previously managing director of Arthur J Gallagher for five years, as well as holding director positions with Bell & Clements and Nelson Hurst.

Alexander will report to Tony Mammolite, president of global property.

Mammolite said: “Melanie’s proven experience and firsthand knowledge of the Lloyd’s market will be invaluable in building Ironshore’s presence for underwriting property program business throughout our London platform.

“We welcome her to the global team as we further our growth strategy within this sector of the industry.”
