Ironshore appoints non-exec director to Board of Pembroke

Bermuda-based insurer Ironshore International has announced its Lloyd’s Pembroke Managing Agency (Pembroke) has appointed Malcolm Beacham to the Board, serving as an independent non-executive director.
Pembroke operates within Lloyd’s as Syndicate 4000, underwriting a portfolio of specialty insurance products in distinct markets. Beacham’s appointment will reinforce Pembroke’s underwriting control capability and enhance its third-party offerings. Beacham was active underwriter and director at Hiscox Syndicate 624 until 1995.  Most recently, he has provided underwriting consultancy services to the market, specialising in independent peer review services to a range of Lloyd’s managing agencies.  Beacham will continue in his role advising on the distribution side of the market as an independent non-executive director at Bell and Clements. Pembroke established its third-party business capabilities with special purpose syndicate (SPS) in 2012.  In 2014, the firm completed the first conversion of an SPS into an independent Syndicate, ACA 2014.   In partnership with Patria Re, Pembroke launched SPS 6125, the first Lloyd’s vehicle backed by Mexican capital, in 2016.  “Pembroke’s distinct appetite is to work with leading third-party clients to develop strategic business partnerships,” said Justin Wash, managing director. Chris Brown, strategic partnership director, added: “This approach allows Pembroke to share expertise and leverage its portfolio of business and distribution capabilities for mutual benefit.”
