Bermuda-based Hiscox has hired a new group chief investment and treasury officer from legacy life re/insurer Monument Re.

In this role, Todd Isaac will be responsible for overseeing the management of the specialty re/insurer’s $7.1 billion of assets, implementing overall investment policy and directing all portfolio management, research, trading and strategy.

He will also be in charge of treasury and corporate finance activities in order to manage asset liability risk and portfolio liquidity. Isaac will lead a team of 10, be based in London and report to Paul Cooper, group chief financial officer.

Isaac has over 30 years of investment and treasury experience, in addition to substantial international experience, having worked in a range of markets including North America, the Middle East, East Asia, the UK, and Bermuda.

He joins Hiscox from Monument Re, where he was deputy chief investment officer for Europe and oversaw portfolio construction, manager selection and committee and board contributions for the reinsurer’s European subsidiaries.

Prior to Monument Re, Isaac spent time at Blackrock, where he focused on business development for the Bermuda and UK P&C sector; Hyperion, where he served as global treasurer; Endurance, where he was treasurer; and Zurich as VP of investments.

Cooper said: “Todd’s significant technical and leadership experience, as well as his valuable global perspective, make him a great addition to the Hiscox team.
