Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) has been accepted as a member of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA).
GFIA unanimously accepted BILTIR as a member at its virtual general assembly on June 3.
Ronnie Klein, executive director of BILTIR, called GFIA “a world-renowned association that endeavors to support insurance activities globally.”
BILTIR represents 61 long-term insurance, reinsurance and servicing companies in Bermuda who provide life and annuity products and employ 540 people on the island.
GFIA is a non-profit association which serves national and regional insurance associations in the life, health, general insurance and reinsurance sectors, and represents them to national governments and international regulators. It has 41 member associations representing 89 percent of global insurance premiums worldwide.
