Endurance poaches CV Starr exec for head of casualty role

Endurance Specialty Holdings has named  Giles Quartly as senior vice president and head of international casualty insurance.

Quartly will be responsible for the Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer’s international general liability insurance business and establishing a presence for Endurance in the London casualty market. He will be based in Endurance's London office and will report to Richard Housley, chief underwriting officer and active underwriter, Endurance at Lloyd's.

Quartly joins Endurance from CV Starr where he was chief underwriter, general liability. He joined CV Starr in 2012 and achieved considerable growth and diversification in their general liability book of business over his tenure.

Quartly has 20 years of experience working in casualty insurance, including similar casualty underwriting roles at Argo, Allianz and QBE.

"Giles is a hands-on leader with strong relationships among brokers in the London market, considerable experience in the Lloyd's market, and a demonstrated track record of growing a diversified global portfolio,” said Housley.

“I look forward to working with him as we build an international casualty team and add yet another important product line to our growing capabilities within the London market."
