Bauman returns to senior post at XL Catlin

Steven Bauman has been appointed head of global programmes and captive practice in North America for reinsurer XL Catlin.

Bauman was previously head of captive services for Zurich Insurance Group. Prior to that he worked for Aon and before that at XL Catlin, managing its New York underwriting hub.

Based in New York, he will report to XL Catlin's global head of captive programmes Matthew Latham, and also Bob Peretti, the head of client and broker management in North America.

“New business risks continue to emerge and regulatory issues are growing more complicated globally,” said Latham. “That is why we’re committed to build out our global programmes and captive expertise with top industry talent like Steven, whose extensive experience will ensure our clients and brokers get the best possible captive-related solutions that address their risks now and in the future.”

As well as overseeing the growth and development of XL Catlin’s global insurance programmes and captive business in North America, Bauman will also provide technical support across business lines in structuring global captive programs; ensure global programs comply and follow best practices; and work with XL Catlin clients and broking partners to develop new and innovative captive products.

“With Steven’s extensive market knowledge, and XL Catlin’s broad risk appetite and service excellence, we will accelerate delivering our best in class global programmes solutions to North American based multinational companies,” Peretti added.
