AXIS boost US renewables team

Specialty insurer AXIS Insurance has strengthened its US Renewables team with three new appointments: Becky Nace-Grover as a senior underwriter, Kamran Hameed as a cross-class underwriter, and German Torres as an underwriter.

The team is tasked with strengthening new and existing broker and partner relationships and developing new business opportunities.

Nace-Grover, based in New York, was previously president of niche underwriting at New Jersey-based ProSight Specialty Insurance. She oversaw specialty portfolios, including its solar contractor program. Before that, she spent six years at GCube Insurance Services as an underwriter focusing on wind and solar clients.

Hameed, based in Kansas City, also has experience working with a range of renewable energy contractors. Most recently, he was a senior underwriter at Alta Risk in Kansas and was previously with AIG.

Finally, Torres, who is based in San Francisco, is transferring internally from the AXIS Property and Energy team, where he wrote property, political risk and renewable energy business in Latin America. Before joining AXIS in 2019, he was a property underwriter at Hannover Re.

All three will report to Axis head of US renewable energy Sam Walsh.
