Aspen hires US excess casualty leader

Jeff Canfield has joined Aspen US Insurance as senior vice president and product line leader of its excess casualty insurance team.

Reporting to Roxanne Mitchell, executive vice president of casualty insurance, Canfield will head up excess casualty, one of the four product lines within Aspen’s new US casualty structure - the other three being real estate/hospitality, construction and products liability.

Working closely with management and the full US casualty team, Canfield will lead and execute the excess casualty strategy to ensure this is focused on targeted growth of the book across the US insurance footprint.

Canfield joins Aspen with nearly twenty years of experience in underwriting, claims and broker relations, and prior to joining Aspen he was responsible for the profitable growth of an excess casualty book at AIG, managing a national team of underwriters. He has also worked in claims at Amica Insurance.
