ArgoGlobal swoops for Willis talent to strengthen broker relationships

ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni, a member of Bermuda-based Argo Group International Holdings, has appointed Marcello Lombardini as distribution and business development director.

Lombardini most recently served at Willis Italia where he spent more than six years, ultimately serving as the CEO of Willis General Agency, an underwriting agency owned by Willis Italia. He also recently served as a senior insurance consultant at Banca IFIS.

Previously, Lombardini was a broker with several companies, including Ital, Iniassi. He also served as head of broker channels and head of SME business at Zurich Group in Italy.

Lombardini will be tasked to grow ArgoGlobal’s distribution network in order to increase share of the Italian market, while also managing and developing existing broker relationships. He will report to Giovanni Tucci, managing director of ArgoGlobal Assicurazioni.

“Since we became part of the Argo Group in March we have been building a team that will help us fulfil our ambitions to become a market-leading platform in our target business segments across Italy,” said Tucci. “Marcello’s appointment is fundamental to our strategy, and his breadth of experience and networks across the industry will reinforce our market positioning.”
