Aon Bermuda executive passes away

Steven Britton, managing director at Aon Bermuda, has passed away at the age of 58.

Britton led Aon's Insurance Linked Securities business globally and was an advocate for the sector. 

He previously worked for Horseshoe Group - now part of Artex - as a senior vice president from July 2010 to October 2015. He also worked in the captive insurance industry in the past.

He was a graduate of the University of California, Davis - Graduate School of Management.

No further news has been released as of the time of writing this story about the nature of his passing.

Karl DeGiovanni, director of client solutions – EMEA at Aon, said in a statement on LinkedIn about the death of Britton: “I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of a colleague and long time friend.

“Steve was a well liked and deeply respected Aon colleague who led our ILS business globally with enthusiasm and energy. His passion for the industry could be immediately felt in how he spoke about it. He also had a particular love for Malta having visited on a few occasions to help kickstart the ILS industry locally.

“A native Californian and a surfer dude at heart with a love for life. Keep surfing those waves Steve, you will be missed.”
