ACE expands South African capabilities

ACE Group launches a new casualty insurance practice in South Africa, selecting Lee Stacey to head the unit, as the company continues to build its underwriting proposition for corporate clients across the country.

Lee is responsible for increasing ACE’s presence in the local insurance market, focusing on public liability, products liability and pollution coverage. Lee joins from Zurich, where she was seconded to South Africa in 2012.

Gary Jack, chief operating officer for ACE in South Africa, says: “Ace was built on its strength as a casualty market and this is still a core component of our global underwriting offering today. The appointment of Lee is therefore another important step for us in South Africa as we continue to progress as our strategy of increasing our product range locally in alignment with ACE’s global offerings. Lee’s vast technical and underwriting experience is an asset as we build our presence in this important sector in the market. We wish her well in her new role.”

John Nienaber, CEO for ACE in South Africa, adds: “following the announcements last year of the launch of our financial lines and energy insurance practice, today’s announcement reiterates our commitment to meeting the market’s needs right across the country. Lee will be an important addition to our growing team.”
