Industry legend Duperreault to have Summit last word
Insurance industry legend Brian Duperreault (pictured) will speak in public for the first time since the launch of his new insurer at the Bermuda Risk Summit next month.
Duperreault, who is chairman of Mereo Insurance which entered the market last month with $700 million in capital, will speak on March 12, the final day of the three-day conference.
Duperreault will be interviewed by president and chief executive officer of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers John Huff at a session entitled The Last Word: Brian Duperreault.
Huff will ask Duperreault to provide some insight into Mereo’s plans as well as to discuss Bermuda’s critical role as a global risk leader, the evolution of the re/insurance market, and Duperreault’s vision for the island’s future in the industry
Huff will also discuss Duperreault's upcoming biography, Faith & Purpose: The Life & Vision of Insurance Icon Brian Duperreault, which will be released the week after the Summit. Duperreault is the former chief executive officer of AIG, Marsh and ACE (now Chubb) and also founded Bermuda-based Hamilton Insurance Group.
"Brian’s leadership, vision, and contributions to the industry have helped establish Bermuda as the powerhouse it is today. His ability to navigate global markets, transform organisations, and lead through change has influenced generations of industry professionals,” said Huff. “With his new venture, Mereo Insurance, Brian continues to redefine what it means to be an industry leader. This session is an absolute must-attend for anyone serious about the direction of global re/insurance."
Kendaree Burgess, managing director of summit organiser the Bermuda Business Development Agency, added: “Brian Duperreault is a pioneer whose influence has shaped the global re/insurance landscape for over 50 years. His ability to anticipate and navigate market shifts has set the standard for leadership in the industry. Having him close the Bermuda Risk Summit 2025 is a defining moment for this event and for all who attend. “
