Horseshoe names Faries as CEO as Perez steps into advisory role
Kathleen Faries has been appointed as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Horseshoe, the insurance linked securities specialist and fund administrator.
Faries takes up her new post on April 15, 2021, succeeding Andre Perez, the founder and current CEO of Horseshoe, who will assume the role of executive chairman after a short transition period. Perez will serve as an advisor to the business, with a focus on strategic business opportunities and mergers and acquisitions.
Faries, who is based in Bermuda, has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, across property and casualty broking, captives, underwriting and insurance management. She was most recently the head of Tokio Millennium Re (TMR) in Bermuda and also served as CEO of Tokio Solution Management (TSM), leading the expansion of its capital markets strategy. Before that she held executive roles with Marsh and Crump International in Bermuda.
She is a founding director and current chair of WeSpeak Bermuda, a non-profit focused on building female public speaking skills and confidence, and chair of ILS Bermuda, host of the annual ILS Bermuda Convergence event. She also serves on the board of the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII).
Faries said: “I believe the ILS industry has the ability, now more than ever, to make a significant impact on our society’s growing and expanding risk landscape.”
Perez highlighted Faries’ “tremendous depth and breadth of industry experience, along with her authentic leadership style,” as assets for Horseshoe.
Peter Mullen, CEO of Artex, Horseshoe’s parent company, added: “Positioning the company for the future, and ensuring a robust succession plan, is a core objective at Artex.”
