ILS Bermuda names Hanni Ali chair and Alex Conyers vice chair to steer next stage of innovation
ILS Bermuda has shuffled its steering committee leadership ranks with Hanni Ali (pictured right), chief executive officer of Radix ILS, stepping up to the position as chair, as Jo Stanton, chief financial officer of Tangency Capital, steps down following five years as chair.
Ali said: “I am honoured to step into the role of chair and to build on the strong foundation established by Jo Stanton, whose leadership has been instrumental in guiding ILS Bermuda through a period of significant challenge and renewal.
“ILS Bermuda plays an important role in convening the global market, supporting innovation, and reinforcing Bermuda’s position as a leading hub for risk and capital. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the industry to continue that work.”
Alex Conyers (pictured left), senior vice president at Neuberger Berman, becomes vice chair. He said: “As a Bermudian professional with a decade in the ILS market, I am proud to be taking on this role and look forward to building on the strong foundations established by past colleagues.
“The significant growth of the ILS market on the island over the last 15 years reflects the good stewardship and vision of the many leaders volunteering for ILS Bermuda. Their efforts have been instrumental in positioning Bermuda as a jurisdiction of choice for ILS risk transfer by championing prudent regulation, encouraging thought leadership, and expanding opportunities for aspiring Bermudians through our education initiatives.”
ILS Bermuda’s Education Workstream, an initiative aimed at creating pathways for Bermuda College students into the ILS sector, has also seen key leadership changes, with Victoria Cunningham, executive director of the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS), assuming the role of workstream chair, succeeding Tim Tetlow, who ILS Bermuda said has been instrumental in building and advancing the programme in collaboration with industry partners.
In conjunction with these announcements, ILS Bermuda confirmed that its flagship Convergence event will return from 12–14 October 2026 on island.
