ILS Bermuda celebrates 13 students completing college programme

ILS Bermuda has awarded completion certificates to 13 Bermuda College students who completed its 2025–2026 college programme, with seven securing summer internships across the Bermuda re/insurance and ILS sectors.

The programme’s second-ever Completion Certificate recognises achievement in insurance education and career readiness. This year’s recipients are Ayinde Bulford, Rickai Burrows, Tiye Holmes, Tre McCallan, Akiiki Nyabongo, Jordan Parker, Cyannah Pereira, Christopher Pitcher, Sydney Santos, Deontae Scott, Margarida Simas, Camille Stephens and J’Auri Talbot.

Students completed a six-module programme covering business etiquette and professional conduct, one-on-one mentorship, participation in the ILS Convergence conference, CV, LinkedIn and social media development, mock interviews and strategies for applying for scholarships and industry internships.

The programme also included Lunch and Learn sessions, giving students the opportunity to explore careers through informal discussions with professionals across the risk industry.

Seven students secured summer internships with organisations including the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Hiscox ILS, Marsh Management Services, Price Forbes Re, Chubb and Liberty Mutual.

Tiye Holmes said the programme broadened her understanding of business and helped create an opportunity to intern with Liberty Mutual’s Excess Casualty Department.

Tre McCallan said the opportunity to engage with industry professionals, receive mentorship and attend the ILS Convergence Conference helped connect the programme’s lessons with real-world industry decisions and relationships.

ILS Bermuda has partnered with Bermuda College since 2017 to deliver the programme, which runs alongside students’ academic studies and is open to full-time or dual-enrolment Bermuda College students.

The programme is delivered by volunteers from across the ILS and re/insurance sectors.

We are immensely proud of this year’s graduates and thankful to the organizations that have once again offered internships, providing students with valuable opportunities to develop their knowledge and experience within the industry.”

Victoria Cunningham, ILS Bermuda education chair, said: “Watching this year’s cohort grow professionally over the course of the programme has been incredibly rewarding, and we are grateful to the mentors and partner organisations who continue to invest in Bermuda’s next generation of talent. ”

ILS Bermuda will accept expressions of interest for the 2026–2027 programme and is seeking industry professionals to volunteer as mentors or mock interviewers. Organisations interested in hosting student interns in summer 2026 or 2027 are also being invited to participate.
