HSCM promotes finance chief Bernard Opoku to partner role

Hudson Structured Capital Management (HSCM) has promoted its chief financial officer, Bernard Opoku (pictured), to partner, recognising his significant contributions to strengthening the firm’s finance and operating platform across its insurance and transportation businesses.

The Bermuda-based firm elected Opoku to partner in recognition of his leadership of HSCM’s finance function, which encompasses management reporting, analytics, and governance supporting the investment platform.

Opoku joined HSCM in 2018 as vice president and controller and has since held senior positions, including managing director and chief accounting officer. He was appointed managing director and chief financial officer on October 1, 2023.

Prior to joining HSCM, Opoku was a senior manager at KPMG in Bermuda, working in the firm’s insurance-linked securities practice. He was also recognised by Intelligent Insurer as a 2025 Leaders Under 40 honouree.

He holds a first-class BSc in mathematics, statistics, and financial economics from Queen Mary University of London, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda.

Michael Millette, managing partner of HSCM, said: “Bernard’s election to partner reflects the leadership, rigour, and judgment he brings every day. He has been instrumental in strengthening our finance organisation and elevating the analytical and governance frameworks that support HSCM’s strategy and long-term growth.”
