Hamilton Re mourns Sergio Lottimore, head of specialty reinsurance, after air tragedy

Hamilton Re has paid tribute to Sergio Lottimore, its senior vice president and head of specialty reinsurance, who was among six people aboard a medical transport aircraft that crashed off Massachusetts while travelling from Bermuda to Boston.

Lottimore, 41, and his mother, Marilyn Lavonne Bean, 66, were the two Bermudian nationals aboard the Gulfstream G100 air ambulance when contact with the aircraft was lost off Nantucket in the early hours of Saturday, October 3.

The US Coast Guard suspended its search on Sunday after an extensive operation involving air and surface crews found a debris field confirmed to be from the aircraft.

Hamilton said in a statement:

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of our colleague, Sergio Lottimore, SVP, head of specialty reinsurance at Hamilton Re, who, alongside his mother, was among those on board the medical transport aircraft that departed Bermuda for Boston on Friday. The entire Hamilton team is heartbroken by the loss of a respected leader, colleague and friend. Our thoughts are with Sergio's family and loved ones, and all those affected by this tragedy.”

The other four people aboard the aircraft were Canadian nationals and members of the Latitude Air Ambulance team.

The investigation into the incident is being handled by Canadian and US transportation safety authorities.
